Shauna and I have decided to set up accounts at the credit union for each of the kids, instead of paying them cash for their cleaning duties, we put money into their account when the tasks are completed in a timely manner. Saturday was our first day with our new system, it really worked very nice. Our kids are always so money hungry, now, they really have to earn it!!

Tonight for mutual, the beehives had to make their own cake and bring it to the church. The leaders then gave them a little lesson on cake decorating. I think Olivia did a very good job!! We had to keep Savannah out of it with a wip, she gets a little crazy when she comes across anything sweet.

Oh my goodness, I'm almost 40 years old. Where did all the years go. Things are good, I feel the best that I've felt in a long time. Going to the gym has really helped. Shauna made a cake, which I am holding, I told her not to worry about any candles.

This past thursday, friday and saturday, Shauna, Savannah, Olivia, Charly and myself all drove to Nampa to watch the boys High School basketball state tournament. We all had a great time. Abby and Trey stayed with Levonne, they were at friends houses during the day.

The Idaho Center is sure a nice venue, the girls are standing in front of it in the picture. We sure had a lot of people over there to support our boys basketball team. Thursday and Friday we all went and watched two games in the evening, Madison played at 8pm both nights. They played so good both nights, winning in overtime on friday night against Post Falls. There was a lot of red and white on the Madison side. It was a great time, and we look forward to going back next year.

Hello, Hello, Hello!! We really are alive and well. Can I just say that our kids keep us so busy.
Yesterday, Shauna and the three oldest girls went over to Driggs, Idaho for a ward youth winter escape. They had snowmobiles and sleds and tubes, and a perfect day, as far as the weather. Between the young women and young men, they had about 35-40 show up. They left yesterday morning about 9am and spent all day getting white washed and having a great time. At church there were a lot of kids and leaders that were saying how sore they were. A family in our ward was willing to let the youth use there cabin/house, which was furnished with pool table and games. When they needed to get warm, they could go in the house, watch movies, eat, play pool or do what ever, they didn't get back until around 9pm. That evening they stopped at Green canyon hot springs to go swimming. I took Trey and Abby up around 4:30pm, the youth and leaders arrived around 5:30pm. When Shauna and the kids got home they went right to bed, it had been a very busy day.

Shauna has bought herself, me, Savannah and Olivia Worlds Gym memberships. This summer she is running in the Dam Marathon here in Rexburg. Jenny (Gary's wife) will also be running with Shauna, they both seem excited. Shauna has taken her training quite serious, her and the girls have been really good about going to the gym to work out, they really like it, they say it is really nice in there, and they have never had to wait to use the equipment. I'm hoping that my back will quit giving me problems, WHEN i get into better shape.

I can't believe how fast 2008 went by. We all had a great year! We are looking forward to another geat year in 2009. New Years Eve was a lot of fun up at mom and dad's. Beau and Candace came up and brought there Rock Band game. We had so much fun playing with everyone, well most everyone. I really enjoyed the finger food.

Our christmas was wonderful, all the kids really had a lot of fun playing with their presents and toys. Trey is our lego master builder, he got some Star Wars building sets. Savannah (Ipod) Olivia(Ipod dock w/cd player and radio) Charly (Zen, MP3 player) Abby (kareoke).

Savannah's basketball season has almost come to an end. There last game is on Tuesday at Eagle Rock. They have had a good season, there record is 7 wins and 6 losses. Savannah has really impressed me with how much she has improved. She really became very aggressive and learned the game, much faster than I thought she would. She has really enjoyed it, and looks forward to playing next year.

Charly's b-day was last thursday, but we celebrated it friday at the Church. She invited 13 girls, boy, what a fiasco!! Too many girls together in one place at the same time. Most of the girls had a good time, overall it was a lot of fun, Shauna had games and fun things set up for them to do, she had food and drinks and cupcakes.

Trey's Baptism

Saturday was a great day, Trey was finally baptized. He turned 8 back in September, but there were scheduling conflicts. We also had two other girls get baptized from our ward. I baptized him and Grandpa Williams confirmed him. Sunday in Sacrament meeting our Bishop had all three of them come up to the pulpit, to recongnize them for what they had done the day before. He also had them bear their testimonies, Trey was very nervous, he hates being in front of big groups, he gets that from his dad! He did a great job!! In primary he was presented with his very own Book of Mormon with his name engraved on the front, from the Bishop. He's very happy to have his own Book of Mormon. It was a wonderful day!

Savannah scored her first points of the year tonight against Clair E. Gale in Idaho Falls. I've been trying to get her to be more aggressive, and tonight she played very well. She had a couple of rebounds and three steals. She is still learning, but she showed a lot today in her game. They won 42-18. There record is now 3 wins and 2 losses, the team keeps improving each game. There next game is thursday at 4:30 at Madison Jr. High against Rigby.

The two girls went down to Lagoon with their friends that they took up to the cabins last week. They were exausted when they got back on Sunday. They did have a lot of fun, they even went through some scary spook alleys. They also were able to go on some rides, they really liked Wicked and the Samuri. The weather was perfect for them! They also were able to eat at some nice restaurants with their friends family. We never even heard from them the whole weekend, they forgot all about us, but when we ask them why they didn't call, it's the same old story, "we need cell phones, then we can call you any time." I don't think so!!

Family trip to Island Park Cabin

This past weeekend we all went to stay at a cabin in Island Park. We get a really good deal if we want to go up, it's through my boss. We went up friday after work and just got back today. Olivia and Charly both took up a friend, which are sisters, they had a really good time, we didn't have any real major fights or arguments.

Shauna took up some crafts and paints to keep them busy. We all enjoyed the hot tub, and just being couch potatoes, watching movies and tv. The weather was wonderful!! However, it is nice to be back home.

BYU football trip!!

Shauna and I had a great time at the BYU football game this past saturday. It was so fun to be in that kind of atmosphere. The stadium was packed and very loud, it was awesome!! It was very entertaining to watch some of the students. We really enjoyed the marching band, they were very good. We're all ready to go attend some more football games at Lavell Edwards Stadium. After the game we went to Beau and Candace's and stayed the night with them. It was great to see them and the boys. Gavin and Landon are so cute, I just wanted to hold and squeeze them. Landon let me hold him, Gavin was just to busy with his cars and motorcycles, which he calls his "crucks". We had a wonderful weekend!!

Basketball Season!!

Savannah decided to try out for basketball, after she had so much fun playing volleyball. We found out last Thursday that she had made the 8th grade team. We are all very excited!! And proud of her!! They kept 15 girls on the team, they had between 30-40 for try outs. I'll put on their schedule when it comes out.

Today I was up in St. Anthony officiating football. We had a good rain storm come through at the end of our first game. Our second game was South Fremont 5th grade vs. Rocky Mountain.
The weather was perfect, the game was a little lopsided, favoring South Fremont. I was able to see Mitch play some ball. He did a great job playing offensive line, it's great that he can get some experience playing on the 5th grade team as a 4th grader. He'll do some great things with the more experience he gets. Keep up the hard work!! Stay excited and have fun.

Volleyball season coming to an End.

Savannah has had a great time playing on the 8th grade volleyball team. She has made some new friends. She has really enjoyed traveling around to different schools to compete against some good competition. At Madison, they have an A and B team. The A team is the girls that are more advanced, Savannah has played with the B team most of the season. She just hasn't had enough years playing. They had 42 girls try out for 15 positions. Savannah was the only girls to make the team with no prior experience, we were very proud of her. She has really improved a lot in the short time that she has played. She still has a lot to learn about the game but her fundamentals are getting better all the time. The team has had some team parties, just so the girls can get to know each other better. Tonight they're going to a girls house, and her dad is a doctor here in town, it's a swimming party, they have an indoor pool.

Bryce and Shauna's Bike Adventure

This year for Shauna's birthday we decided to get away just the two of us.

Yes, that's right, it was just Shauna and I.

We left for our little adventure Saturday about 1pm. We rode over to Hailey, Ketchum/Sun Valley. We drove around Ketchum because we had not been there before, it was really cool, it's a lot like a little Jackson Hole. After that we continued north towards Stanley, Idaho. We stopped at a lodge called Smiley Creek Lodge, it was very cozy and it had a restaurant, the food was very good, we ate dinner and breakfast there. Sunday morning we woke up to a beautiful day. We left at 10am and rode to Redfish Lake, that was sure pretty!! We then continued our adventure up to Stanley and then over to Challis, Id. and then up to Salmon. We loved the scenery, riding along the Salmon river was a real treat. After we stopped in Salmon to stretch our legs we decided to come home. Over the past day and a half we rode 530 miles, and they were all worth it. We saw some wildlife, a fox that crossed right in front of us just north of Ketchum. We saw a lot of deer in the Salmon River from Stanley over to Salmon. We had a great time!!

The kids had a busy,(if you ask them it was always boring) summer. Here the kids were enjoying some of their last days before school. Here's proof that Shauna was busy with the yard and its upkeep, she was usually the one that did the mowing, along with the help of the girls. She always had the yard looking great!!

Well all the kids are in school now. Abby is in Kindergarten, Trey is in 2nd, Charlotte is in 4th, Olivia is 6th and Savannah is in 8th. Charlotte Trey and Abby are going to the new Burton school durring Spud Harvest. They're excited!

Well Savannah made the Volleyball team! This is her first year playing it, when the rest of the girls have been playing for a while. She feels kinda weird playing with them, but she likes it.

We all went to a Family Reunion yesturday. They had a Water slide 21'ft high! and 33'long. The kids loved it!

Oh and Im reffing football this year.

Shauna couldn't be more excited for school to get started again. All our kids will be in school, how crazy is that!! Abby went in the health office and had to get four shots, Shauna said she did very good for the first two, but when the second set came the tears came also. She called me at work to tell me she had her shots so that she could go to school, she is very excited!! All the kids are excited to get back in school, they are just so dang bored all the time, from the minute they wake up. Savannah is trying out for the 8th grade volleyball team today at the junior high from 3-5pm. This is her first time playing volleyball. We've been out practicing a little.

Shauna and I went out on my dad's Goldwing this weekend. We have really enjoyed getting out just the two of us, there just isn't anything like riding out in the open air, we love it. We went up through the Mesa Falls Scenic byway and came back over the Ashton hill, and stopped in St. Anthony to eat at Big J's. We then went through Parker, on the Salem Highway and through HIbbard to get home. It was a beautiful drive!! I can't thank Dad enough for letting me barrow his motorcycle.

I don't know what happened, I blacked out for a few minutes and when I came too, I had a new haircut. Yeah right! No really, Shauna thought it would be sexy!! Yeah, that's not true either. I did it just for fun, it only lasted a for a little while before I shaved it all off, just the mohawk. Shauna has threatened me, saying that I will be sleeping out on the couch. That is true!!! But she has had mercy on me. My new haircut does keep me a lot cooler.

This past saturday, Shauna and I went on a motorcyle ride with Gary and Jenn. I borrowed my dad's Goldwing. We are both ready to go out again, we have been infected!!!
We rode over to Jackson Hole, going through Swan valley and the Hoback Junction. We had lunch in Jackson at Bubba's, it was very yummy!! We then came home going over the Jackson pass and then through Driggs. The weather was perfect, I did get a little sun burn, but not bad.

WOW! I'm so happy to have this project completed. Today, I was able to finish and just in time, I don't think I could take any more. I will get some pictures and post them on our blog soon. I'm very happy, as is the rest of the family with the end result, it gives it a very much needed face lift.

Softball Tourny in Rigby

Savannah has had a good summer playing softball. She has made a lot of progress in her game. Yesterday, Savannah had 4 games, beginning a 9:45am and their last one at 6:30pm. They won 2 out of 5 games. Savannah had a good day playing in her games. She hit the ball well and fielded very well, playing 2nd base. In one of her games she made a double play, fielding a grounder and tagging the runner from 1st base and throwing the hitter out at 1st base, it was very exciting. She also made some really good catches and had some good throws. It's fun and exciting watching her play. It's nice to have some one to play catch with, both Savannah and Olivia are fun to play catch with.

Here is a finished look at the bathroom, a large thanks goes out to my dad, Gary, and Greg for their help, it was very much appreciated. We still are going to paint the walls on Monday.

Here are some photos of me tearing the master bathroom apart, so we could tile the floor and put in a new shower stall. It was a real pain!!

Well, Savannah and Olivia made it through their first year of fastpitch softball. They had a good year and made some new friends, I also saw a lot of improvement in their play through the year. They lost their first two games of their league tournament. Their first game they only had 7 girls show up to play, they lost 15-7. Their next game, they lost 11-10, with the based loaded and two outs, our batter grounded out. They really battled back in the last inning, I was very proud of them. I think that Savannah is going to play in a tournament in Rigby, with a team from Rexburg, on July 11th and 12th.

I have sacrificed ball experiences these last few weeks, so I could be with the girls, I'm planning to rejoin the team and see what a can do. I hope that I can perform up to the standards of my first week with the team. I'm excited to play some ball again!!

Our trip to Washington

Well, we had great trip to the Tacoma, Wa. area last week. We went over for a the wedding of Shauna's nephew,(Justin Schliep). They were married in a beautiful mansion, constructed in the early 1900's. It's called the Thornwood Castle. It was the setting of a movie by Stephen King, called The Red Rose. I guess it's a suspense, thriller. Go figure, Stephen King, who would have guessed!! The place had a huge sunken garden, which the site of the wedding. Abby was one of the flower girls, she loved the attention, she really loved the beautiful dress that they made for her, this was worth the trip itself. We were there just three days and then drove back on sunday. We spent a lot of the time playing Wii sports, and enjoying some days of just hanging out. The weather was very nice, middle 70's. It was a lot of fun!!

Springville Fastpitch Tourny

Well, Savannah had her first softball tournament, and it was in Springville, Ut. Candace and Beau were both gone, but they allowed us to stay at there place. It sure saved us a lot of money, also the girls loved playing their WII, and so did I. Savannah had two games on friday evening, and then two more games saturday morning. They went 0-4, they had struggled against the Utah teams that have played together for years. This was the first time for Savannah playing with these girls. She also seemed very intimidated, she'd not seen girls pitch like this before, they were very good. There first game was against Emily Jonsen's team, she is married to Tod Jonsen from my mission. Their oldest daughter has been playing for years, she pitched, and did a very good job. It was fun to see them, and a pleasant surprise. We have a lot to work on with Savannah. She's still trying to learn the game and the mechanics of the game. I'm hoping that they'll come with the more game experience she sees. She played 2nd base and some right field.
She really struggled with her hitting, she walked a couple of times and then struck out the rest, she never made any contact with the ball.
Her team is going down to Murray, Ut. for a tournament this friday and saturday. I'm not sure that i'll make it down for this one or not, I'm not sure my nerves can take it, I guess that I've got a lot to work on myself.

Golfing in the Rain

Shauna and I went golfing this morning with her brother Gary and his wife Jenn. We went to Cedar Park which is a par 3 golf course, it's located east of Rigby about 4 miles. It is a really fun little course. We did get a little wet, but the rain only lasted for about 15-20 minutes.
I almost made Shauna pee her pants. We were on the 6th hole and I was up to tee off. I hit the ball directly into a sprinkler pipe which kicked the ball right back at me. So I grab my ball and tee off again and smack a tree in front of me and to the right a little, it kicks my ball back at me, just missing my knee, they were all laughing at me so hard, that Shauna almost had an accident in her pants.
We did have a really good time, Shauna said that she would like to go again, that was music to my ears.

Thursday night was sure a sad night. Everything was going great, the girls had just performed magnificently, at their Company B concert. I was very impressed how well all the girls performed. Shauna and Darby sure have done a great job to get all those girls to come out and perform. They also have a little group of boys (7 boys) that did a really good job, they are very busy. Everything was great until we got home and had a message on the phone that the softball tourny in Springville, ut. was cancelled due to weather. That's when the flood of tears commenced. Charly and Olivia were so upset, suggesting that we still go down, but, with gas prices, it was not going to happen. Yesterday, we found out that they have rescheduled that same tourny for this coming friday and saturday.

These are the girls uniforms, or as Savannah said(costumes), I had to correct her, and make sure she understood that they are uniforms not costumes.

Bryce's softball games

What an opening night of softball for myself. I was really in the zone, I went 4 for 4 with 3 homeruns(out of the park, over centerfield) our next game I went 4 for 4 with 1 homerun over left center. The ball was sure flying for me tonight, the weather was not the best, but it was fun. We won out first game 11-1, and lost our late game, 27-40, (that is the real score) there were a lot of good hits on both sides and hardly any errors, it was like batting practice. I played 2nd base, I didn't get one ball hit to me tonight in two games. At least I had a good night hitting.
Savannah, Olivia, Charly and myself are all looking forward to going down to Springville, Ut. for Savannah's fast pitch tourny. I'm hoping that the weather will hold out enough for them to play. We are also very excited to stay with Beau and Candace, and get to see their boys.

The Master of Memory

Abby loves to play the game of Memory, she has a couple different versions, Dora and Nemo are her favorite. She plays as if her hands are magnets to all matches, no one can beat her!! Every now and again someone will get lucky and find more matches than Abby. So beware if you are confronted and asked to play MEMORY. Good Luck!!!

The girls have been spending a lot of time working on their softball skills. They still have not had any games yet, one week both games were cancelled due to rain. The next week, the opposing team didn't show up to play. I'm really excited to see how they do as a team, because they do have a pretty good little team, mostly 5th and 6th graders, Savannah is the only 7th grader on the team. The girls (Savannah and Olivia) are both hitting the ball really good. Savannah has already built a reputaion for slugging the ball. Savannah is still working on her pitching and Olivia is going to be our multi-position player. She played 3rd base in their one scrimmage game, but she is able to catch those high popflys really well.

Olivia had her orchestra concert on Wednesday night, they sounded very good. The 5th, 6th, and 7th grade orchestras all performed. Olivia does enjoy her viola.

Charly is out enjoying the nice weather, finally, we are getting some nice days. Now we have to go out and mow our lawn, and do yard work, doesn't that sound like fun.

Trey had a game yesterday, they played the Rockies. They did very good as a team, we have a lot of young kids. They keep improving every game, making more plays in the field. Trey went 1 for 2 hitting, scoring once. He also made an out at 1st base, he had a popfly hit to him, just missing the catch, he picked up the ball and sprinted to 1st base before the hitter could get there, we were very proud!!!

Olivia and Savannah should have there first softball game this friday. We're very excited to see how they play in a gametime atmoshpere. They seem to be very excited for that first game. Dad is out throwing with them everyday and pitching to them batting practice. Dad is also starting his city league softball, actually, tonight was opening night, he didn't make it to the games!

Shauna has started working at Olive Garden in Idaho Falls. She really enjoys it!! She said that they make all new employees taste all the food during their first week of training, how terrible is that!!! Feel bad for Shauna!! She also has to do some studying of their menu items, they are tested on it at the end of their training.

Orchestra Concert

Olivia had her orchestra concert tonight. It went very well, she plays the viola, and is doing a wonderful job. She really enjoys playing her viola. Next year, she will be having orchestra every day, this is a new thing for the middle school. They are trying to get more playing time and classroom practice for the students. We hope that she will stick with it.

FAMILY TIME

After the long winter months we had to escape to the warm confines of Green Canyon Hot Springs. Dad isn't much of a water person,but he doesn't hate it by any means. The kids do enjoy being thrown by dad in the pool, and seeing who will swallow the most of that clear crystal water. HA!HA!

The kids really do enjoy being in the water, as does dad, the warm water does his old muscles good.

Pay no attention to Charly's face, she really is enjoying the swimming, she is just way to serious(NOT), she is our other drama queen.

The kids are all very excited to go swimming this summer at Rigby Lake with their cousins and friends. Rigby Lake is one of their favorite things to do of the summer. They always get so tanned during the summer, due to all the time they spend in and around the water, I think they are part fish.

Savannah and her illustrious career in track is on hold. She did very well, improving on her times in the 100 and 200 meter events. She started to throw the discus late in the year, she was very impressive, Bryce will make sure that she keeps practicing her discus throwing.

She and Olivia are now pursuing their luck in fastpitch softball. Their coach is very impressed with what they can do. Their first games are this week, dad is very excited! We will get some photos and post them later this week.

Trey has started his career in baseball. This is his rookie year, and he seems to be enjoying it. Trey and Dad spend a lot of time working on his skills. Trey is quite proud of his Reds uniform. He has make several new friends from his baseball team.

Well Savannah is doing track now, and is doing pretty good.

Yesterday was their 1st meet. we watched her run the 100 m. and she ran it in 18.71 sec.but then we left early because the weather was insane!

but when Savannah got home, she said as she was running the 200 meter dash, and when she was almost to the finish line, her muscles froze, and she biffed it hard. she said she couldn't stop, and said it felt like it was slow motion, But now she has a torn up knee, bruised hands and a scraped up back. Ya, she feels pretty clumsy. but, better luck next time, she says.
